Irises are popular, hardy herbaceous perennials recognized by their distinctive six-lobed flowers and sword-shaped, fan-like foliage. Available in nearly every color, they grow from rhizomes or bulbs, with blooms characterized by three upright petals and three drooping lower petal. They typically bloom in late spring to early summer.
