About Leo
After many years as a general contractor, Leo discovered his true passion for farming 25 years ago when his first granddaughter was born—he wanted her to know where her food came from. He became one of the original visionaries of the farming movement in Nevada County, helping to shape a local culture of sustainable agriculture and community gardens. Today, Leo is transitioning from the long, demanding days of farming to a simpler life focused on cultivating a nursery that specializes in native plants perfectly suited to the Sierra Foothill climate.

Located in the heart of Downtown Nevada City, Nevada City Blooms is a charming boutique farmette and nursery run by a father–daughter team. Leo tends the nursery, specializing in unique native plants that thrive in the Sierra Foothill climate, while Rebecca grows vibrant seasonal flowers—especially dahlias and zinnias—for the flower bar, where visitors can create their own bouquets to take home. Together, they also provide beautiful, locally grown blooms for weddings and special events, bringing a touch of local elegance to every celebration.
About Rebecca
A local Realtor and longtime Nevada City resident, Rebecca grew up watching her dad tend to his thriving vegetable garden—an early influence that recently sparked her own love of growing. Now, she’s discovered a passion for flowers, especially dahlias. Inspired by her oldest daughter’s 2024 wedding and the goal of growing all the flowers for the special day, Rebecca continues to cultivate beauty and joy through her blooms. She also keeps a lively flock of chickens that provide fresh eggs for the farm stand.
